David Calhoon
Raised in Sacramento and blessed to be taught at an early age the joy of hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, David appreciated and loved the wild and beautiful lands, especially wetlands, that brought him joy to the end of his life.
David would often point to a Sacramento area housing tract or shopping center and describe in detail how it used to look before development; how he used to hunt or fish there; even remembering the weather of a particular day in the fields now covered with concrete. An avid duck hunter, David was saddened by the loss of so much California waterfowl habitat and worked to preserve and maintain habitat wherever and whenever he could.
His donation to California Waterfowl, through his will, is a testament to his integrity, his belief in the importance of waterfowl habitat preservation and conservation.
